Scope
This policy applies to platineer.com, the Platineer web application, our marketing pages, our blog and guides, and any related services we offer. It describes how Platineer (“we”, “us”) handles personal information about visitors, prospects, and registered users.
It does not apply to public construction records (permits, plats, parcel data) that we ingest from government sources. Those are governmental open records, not personal information you provide to us.
What we collect
We collect data in three ways:
- You give it to us. When you sign up, sign in with Google, request a demo, contact us, or subscribe to a guide — we receive your email, name (if provided by Google), company, and anything you write into a form.
- We observe it. Standard server logs (IP, user-agent, timestamps), product usage events (which pages you view, which filters you apply), and crash reports.
- Third parties hand it to us. If you sign in with a third-party identity provider, we receive your email address, name, and profile picture from that provider’s authentication response. We do not request or access any other data from your third-party account.
How we use it
- To operate the product: authenticate you, keep your saved searches and watchlists, send the morning lead brief.
- To improve the product: understand which features land, which queries break, which dashboards get ignored.
- To communicate: respond to your messages, send transactional emails (sign-up confirmation, password reset, alerts), and — only if you opt in — newsletter or product updates.
- To protect the service: rate-limit abusers, detect fraud, comply with law.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent it, trade it, or share it with data brokers.
Public records
A core part of Platineer is aggregating public construction data — building permits, plats, parcel ownership, plan-review status — published by city and county governments under open- records laws.
If your name, business name, or property address appears in Platineer because it appears on a public permit or parcel record, that is the original government publication and is not personal data we collected from you. If you believe a record is incorrect, contact the issuing agency. If you believe Platineer should suppress your record from our product, email privacy@platineer.com and we will review.
Retention
We keep account data for as long as your account is active, plus a short tail (typically 30 days) for backups. Transactional emails and support correspondence are retained for up to two years for audit and customer-support history. Server logs are rotated within 90 days. Public-records data is refreshed continuously from source feeds and is not tied to your retention timeline.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict processing of your personal data; to withdraw consent; and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
Most of this you can do yourself from the account settings page. For anything that isn’t self-serve, email privacy@platineer.com and we will respond within 30 days.
Security
We use modern, industry-standard safeguards: TLS in transit, encryption at rest, row-level access controls on user data, OAuth for third-party sign-in, and least-privilege service credentials. No system is perfectly secure; if you believe you’ve found a vulnerability, please report it to security@platineer.com.
Children
Platineer is built for construction professionals and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy as the product evolves. If we make material changes, we will notify you via email or an in-app notice. The “Effective” date at the top reflects the current version.
